Latvia, Estonia and Russia.
[edit]Latvia has reintroduced conscription, so should be purple.
Estonia has a full draft system as has Russia due to the mobilisation so should both be red. 81.153.13.171 (talk) 17:54, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
- Agree, also wanted to point out that Estonia's alternative service is only available for those who are unfit for military training (health or religious reasons). 193.138.189.182 (talk) 22:32, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
Conscription by country
[edit]It makes no sense to list some countries (Austria, Estonia, Finland, and the UAE) as "Male and volunteer female". Conscription is, by definition, not a voluntary thing. Those countries should just be "Male" with respect to whether there is conscription. Other countries that allow female enlistment aren't listed as such. 2603:6011:AE02:7699:C53B:A47A:1F3E:27F4 (talk) 23:22, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- Means, not obligated but can volunteer for conscription term 109.93.221.222 (talk) 03:30, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
- Not necessarily. The UAE source states “Emirati men who have finished secondary school or aged between 18-30 will have to serve nine months, while those who have not will serve two years. The service will be optional for women, who may be trained for nine months, regardless of their education, according to the law.” That means females are not volunteering for the conscription term that is mandatory for males. From Google, I can see that your response is true for Estonia. Finland and Austria, from what I can find, is just females volunteering for military service, not necessarily for a term equal to male conscription but I could be wrong as the English sources from the governments is not comprehensive.
- Regardless, it is still misleading to say they can volunteer for a mandatory thing. Should be fixed to clearly state “can volunteer for similar service period/training” if you feel like it should remain which I still maintain shouldn’t be a thing because it is contradictory/impossible. 2603:6011:AE02:7699:C337:306F:9C0E:B8B6 (talk) 23:33, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
The map is incorrect
[edit]The map obviously shows Crimea as belonging to the terrorist state, which is not recognised by any civilzed country, UN or any other international institution. It should be remade and replaced. RMN120501 (talk) 18:01, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Afghanistan in the map
[edit]The map looks old. Because Afghanistan reintroduced conscription after Taliban took over the country 3 years ago. Aminabzz (talk) 13:03, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
